Luhansk airport

from £75.00

Luhansk, Ukraine — “It was the winter of 2015 and the war in Donbas had been rumbling on for more than a year and a half. My friend and I were shooting a documentary in the rebel-held city of Luhansk and rode out one morning to the nearby airport which had been destroyed the previous summer during fierce artillery battles. An old Lada was parked there although, as with so much in this war-torn rust belt, it wasn’t immediately obvious if the car was a remnant of the conflict - or just someone’s battered vehicle that they’d parked up earlier that day.”
