Afternoon catch

Moloukou, Central African Republic — “As countless generations had done before them, fishermen pulled in their daily catch on the Mbaéré River, upstream of the mighty Congo. I sat in one canoe as the men got to work, reeling in their nets to see how many river fish had been caught. Central African communities have lived in the remote Lomba Forest in the CAR-DRC borderlands for millennia. Indigenous groups here can trace one of the most ancient lineages in Africa but lack any official paperwork that would substantiate their genuine claim to this contested land, leaving them vulnerable to eviction and exploitation”
